Hello, My name is Derek and I'm from the USA. I am looking for others to practice my Russian with. I have been studying Russian for about 4 years now and would like help with my speaking and listening. My level is between A1 and A2. In my free time I like to read, write, and draw. I enjoy watching films, especially those of Leonid Gaidai. I enjoy Japanese Anime and Manga. I enjoy all types of films; American, French, Russian. [Recently:] I’m now back in the USA. I have too many interests ;( I now switched my major from Business to Premed. If I change my major one more time (this is the 6th time) my mom is sending me to China and I can't go back home. [There's a lot of practicing languages on my profile and to explain:] 1) I talk to people on this website that speak any of the 6 languages. (Of course, if you want to talk to me to learn French or English or what life in the USA is like but you don't speak any of those languages you are still more than welcomed to talk to me) 2) I learn which ever language I have the most interactions with. 3) We will see what language I end up learning in the next 2 years; it's a surprise, even I don't know. It's a very weird method of learning a language but I might as well try it, to see if it works. [My usual profile:] I'm interested in life in other countries. Also since I live in the USA, I would like to speak with French speakers as well. I was born in Japan because my parents use to live there but I'm French/Croatian. I enjoy learning about people's culture. I hate how everything is getting globalized.

I am a retired man (61) and earn money by trading and investing in stocks and commodities. I studied several languages--French, Spanish, German, Greek--many years ago, but unfortunately, have forgotten most of them because of not using them. My strongest interests and hobbies are reading and listening to and playing (piano) classical music. I also like to watch Youtube videos about life and people's experiences traveling to other countries. I have about 9 years of university education at 6 different colleges and universities. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics and finance, and also studied law. My understanding of English, including writing, vocabulary, and grammar, is at a very high level. I have some knowledge of Russian--perhaps the equivalent of one year, or a little less, of university study--and would like to improve it.
